INTRAW was honoured to actively participate in the International Round Table on Materials Criticality (IRTC 2025), held from 19 to 21 February 2025 in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
The event provided an opportunity to promote all Horizon Europe projects in which INTRAW participates, including:
- CRM-geothermal: https://crm-geothermal.eu
- AfricaMaVal: https://africamaval.eu
- BLOOM: http://bloomproject.eu
- CIRAN: https://ciranproject.eu
- PERSEPHONE: https://www.persephone-mining.eu
On behalf of BLOOM, INTRAW also organised a clustering panel discussion involving five other EU-funded projects: CiRCLETECH, Raw Materials Radar, GSEU, REPTiS, and SCRREEN3.
Furthermore, INTRAW proudly supported IRTC25 as a partner organisation. The IRTC is an international network of experts in critical raw materials. Since criticality depends on the individual perspective of each stakeholder, approaches to defining and assessing critical materials vary. IRTC organises international expert meetings, an annual conference, joint publications, and training sessions on criticality assessment, global trends, and mitigation strategies.
CIRAN and IRTC25 – A Strategic Alignment
Did you know? We organised the latest consortium meeting of our CIRAN project back-to-back with IRTC25. This event provided a valuable opportunity for partners and external experts to advance key project objectives and set the course for CIRAN’s final year.
On 19 February, CIRAN hosted an interactive workshop focused on decision-making in permitting processes for mining in naturally protected areas. External experts and project partners engaged in simulation-based discussions, exploring pathways towards sustainable extraction and social contract models.
The workshop centred around the Green Valley Mining Project, a hypothetical case study designed to stimulate discussion on balancing economic development, environmental protection, and community engagement.
